Across the country there are reports of people, migrant workers, local workers, peasants, fisher people, vendors, rag pickers and destitute – facing extreme hardships even starvation, because their livelihoods had been extinguished by the lockdown. In these dire circumstances it was essential to provide the basic means of survival. This must have been in cash or food. Proaction Foundation decided to respond to this crisis with a small intervention in Delhi in one of the urban low-income settlements called Shahpur Jat.
